Bold for names within the article

• A large number of articles have used bold face to call attention to the mention of new names, whether or people, books, songs, etc. One example Jones College Prep High School in the Student Awards section. This is contrary to most encyclopedic practice and also seems inconsisten with Wikipedia. If the names are of people important enough to have their own articles, they should be Wikilinked, I believe, rather than put in bold face. If they are not important enough to warrant such links to stand-alone articles, then they should simply be in plain text.

It looks awkward as is. They should be debolded and bulleted for attention, or if they are in a sentence, just debolded. The article needs a lot of cleanup. They shouldnt be linked, no one is worth a full article. Any one else have an opinion?

Merge

Merging bold and italics and emphasis and ALL CAPS would serve no purpose. How would I know to look there for info on how to use bold by looking in "emphasis". Distinct guides on individual topics are easy to find in the categories. See above for a person who had a question and left it here. Incorporation

The use of bold as emphasis often lends to POV. Especially in bibliographies for a book title where italics is solely recommended (Chicago Manual of style), but a user has decided that certain works are more important than others, therefore should be bold. Current policy on the use of bold is sadly lacking and for the sake of consistency decisions need to be made in regard to its use as policy. Amerindianarts 16:41, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
