opt in vs. opt out[edit]

i am not sure if this is great, how someone put a bunch of persons with no clear reason to be interested onto a list to receive notices, then makes us take some action to positively opt out. --Doncram (talk) 04:49, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Doncram I sent the invite to members of WikiProjects related to Numismatics, United States, Philippines (a former US territory which issued its own banknotes), and the Civil War (the closest project we have to the Confederate States). - ZLEA T\C 14:03, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

how to opt out?[edit]

Hey, I interpreted instructions on how to opt out, when I just tried, differently than did some others in their edits. Could whoever is running this please make sure that I am properly opted out? And, I think I and everyone ought to be able to opt out more easily, perhaps by simply requesting it, like here. --Doncram (talk) 04:49, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You opted out correctly, and so did everyone else. Different people have different methods of opting out, and each is correct as long as they don't remove their mailing list template entirely (if a mailing list template is removed, then there is a greater chance that it may be accidentally replaced in the future). - ZLEA T\C 14:03, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand what the instructions say, I didn't know I had a mailing list and I have no connection or interest in America so I would like to be removed from this message list. How do I opt-out? M.T.S.W.A. (talk)

M.T.S.W.A. I've removed you from the list. You were added to the list because you are a member of a WikiProject Numismatics task force. - ZLEA T\C 20:32, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Another removal[edit]

ZLEA, please remove User:Trdsf from your list. Drmies (talk) 01:11, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see an apology for the unwanted intrusion remains beyond the scope of this project, although a deletion of the actual complaint is covered. The Rev Dr Sherwood Forrester (talk) 02:33, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Trdsf You've been removed from the list. I am truly sorry for any intrusion this has caused. I will be more careful in the future and will only send notifications to members of WikiProject Numismatics and to the talk pages of other WikiProjects related to the contest. This will not happen again. - ZLEA T\C 19:45, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, that's genuinely appreciated. Ironically enough, I am a numismatist, although my interests are strictly coins rather than bills. I don't attach myself to the Numismatics project because I simply don't have the expertise, in my judgment. The Rev Dr Sherwood Forrester (talk) 02:44, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
