Clayton Daniel Mote, Jr. has been President of the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) since September of 1998. Before coming to UMCP, Mote was on the faculty of the University of California, Berkeley, where he served for thirty-one years as a professor and was Vice Chancellor from 1991 to 1998.
