Chalan Kanoa (CK, as it is often abbreviated) is a settlement in Saipan, in the Northern Mariana Islands. It is located in the southwest of the island. The village contains the island's central post office, as well as the historic Mt Carmel Catholic Church. Mount Carmel School, Home of the Knights, one of the best schools on island[citation needed] is located in Chalan Kanoa. MCS (as it is abbreviated) is right across Shirley's Cafe; there is also one in Garapan. Once a separate village, it is now virtually contiguous with other nearby villages on Beach Road, including Susupe and San Antonio.
The village of Chalan Kanoa is considered to be one of the oldest villages on the island.
One of the islands main thoroughfares, Beach Road, runs through Chalan Kanoa and connects it to the rest of the island.
Because tourism is a big part of Saipan's economy, two major hotels service hotel: The Aquarius Beach Tower and the Chalan Kanoa Beach Club. Several smaller hotels also are in the area. Aquarius Beach Tower, is the most popular place for all teenagers to have their parties in, three bedrooms in one hotel room at an affordable rate.Aquarius as it is nicknamed by the many teenagers that go there, is the one place where teenagers have their sleepovers, birthdays, etc. It has a beach behind it making it great for barbecues.
Chalan Kanoa is also close to the CNMI's only lake, Lake Susupe.
