Early life

[edit]

Bob White...

Born in Downey, CA on March 21, 1949. He was the oldest of 2 children. His parents were Billy Bob White and Bonnie Gean White. His sister, Sherry was a 18 months younger and together they settled in Garden Grove, CA. Garden Grove in the 50's and 60's was an ideal place to grow up.

One of the many lessons that Mr. White learned from his father was to always put forth his best effort. This was a lesson that would spill over to all avenues of his life. A professional baseball player was in the cards for Bob White. In 1964, one of his high school teachers began teaching karate at a local spa and while he was there, he developed skills to improve his athletic abilities but at the time was not his main focus because of his baseball plans. At age 17-1966, he learned of a local commercial karate school was changing ownership to an Ed Parker school. At the time, Ed Parker was a rising force in the martial arts community. Mr. White did not know of Mr. Parker but when he walked into the school and saw two people freestyling he thought "I could do this. I'd love to do this."
