Quick question

[edit]

Munfarid1 were you in contact with Ms Ali Deeb while writing this article? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 18:01, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the reason for your question, but the frank answer is no. Could you please tell me, why you asked? Munfarid1 (talk) 19:03, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
File:Kefah Ali Deeb by Lena Kern.jpg was uploaded to Commons by Ms Ali Deeb at 16:37 UTC on 16 May. You added it to the article just 30 minutes later. Such a short gap raises questions Munfarid1: how were you aware of the photo's uploading within half an hour? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 19:48, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As you can see from the article's history and my acknowledgement of this being a translation from my article in the German WP of 7 Mai 204, I had written the article well before she uploaded the picture. I am aware of our rules and restrictions regarding COIs, and I don't see any infringement, as I have never even met her. - I learned about her having uploaded the picture through an email by a member of the Syrian community in Berlin, whom I had asked to find out, if she would upload pictures for my already existing articles. - Frankly, I am not aware that there could be a problem with this, but am interested in your views on this. Thank you for your clarification: you were in contact, but it was through an intermediary and thus indirect. Is that correct? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 14:04, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I don't understand how the fact that I learned from an intermediary about the article's subject having uploaded her own picture should be called "in contact". She made the upload nine days after I had published my first article in de:WP about her, and IMHO it should be uncontroversial that I included this picture in her article. After all, many contributors to Commons respond to existing articles by uploading corresponding images. - Further, I have no close or any other association with her, and as a retired person, I only follow WP general guidelines and my own benevolent interests in choosing subjects for my articles. - As such a situation has never occurred to me before, I would appreciate your information in case this goes against any WP guidelines I might not be aware of.
