ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

[edit]

Hello, Scrivener-uki. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of 3 Irish senior clergy

[edit]

Hi, User:Scrivener-uki User:Fram has issued deletion proceedings against three of my articles: Edward Hoare (priest), Michael John Keatinge and Usher Lee I cannot see anywhere how I respond to these. As a Wikipedean who has beavered away with a few other stalwarts, such as yourself, I find this perplexing. This issue has been raised several times and each time the consensus seems to be that Anglican Archdeacons and Deans are notable by office. Many thanks in anticipation for any help you can give

Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich

[edit]

Hi Scrivener. Hope you're ok. When you're next around, I wonder if you can remember whether the details of the bishops' consecrations/confirmations you added here were in the Handbook or Crockford (I find the latter unlikely, but best check!). DBD 17:46, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bishops of Derry

[edit]

Hi there,

I think there may be a question mark over one of the Bishops listed.

Flanagan 1458 1463 Bartholomaeus Ó Flannagáin, O.Cist. Previously a monk in Assaroe Abbey. Appointed on 27 May 1458. Resigned in 1463.

I think his name may be O'Hanagan

I am researching my family and there are 4 Hanagans - on a fiant - pardoning members of Cahir O'Doherty's army who sacked Derry City in 1608

The name appears to be Cenail Connell and Inishowen - so strong links with Derry.

Specific links include this book - https://books.google.ie/books?id=FQ6gAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA212&lpg=PA212&dq=O%27hanagan%22+Bishop+of+Derry&source=bl&ots=uCmwcgOwAA&sig=hNNjLsqDFn4aILCdmbD2lX-RNdE&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjCgMLesd7fAhXHVBUIHSCAAHEQ6AEwAXoECAgQAQ#v=onepage&q=O'hanagan%22%20Bishop%20of%20Derry&f=false

I can't find any other sources at this point - but if I do I will send them in your direction.

Best wishes,
