Language and nationality are not the same, otherwise we will have to put nearly every Irishman as Irish-English given that mostly speak English. Mannerheim is immensely popular, especially amongst Finns, hence him easily winning greatest Finn in the poll cited earlier. He is widely respected worldwide as far as I can tell.
