Mouse Practice was a tutorial released in 1992 by [[Apple Computer]] and created using [[MacroMind Director]] where the user joins a [[scuba diver]] while learning how to use the mouse. The opening screen showed the scuba diver inviting the user to join him as he was going exploring underwater. To get started, one would "move the mouse so the pointer was on" the scuba diver. An inbetween animation showed the scuba diver descending. The first activity was to "use the flashlight to look around and move the mouse so she flashlight shows you the animal that is there." Then the user would "use the flashlight to see the other animals. An inbetween animation showed the scuba diver traveling with a whale. In the next activity, the user was assigned to "move the pointer to the puffer fish" then "click the mouse button." Then the user would click each of the animals, releasing them from their homes. An inbetween animation showed the scuba diver riding on a sea turtle saying "Let's see what else we can find." The last activity was to collect the treasures, upon discovery of a treasure chest. The user's job was to "Point to the crown" then "Hold the mouse button down and drag the crown to the chest." After repeating the same thing with the other treasures, a hook appeared and the user was assigned to "Point to the hook and drag it down to the chest". Upon doing so, the user was assigned to release the mouse button. |

In the final scene, the diver bids the user adieu and said "If you want to go underwater again, point to me and click (which would repeat the tutorial). If you want to stop, click the treasure chest." (which would exit the program. This was the only way out of the program. Unlike other computer programs, Mouse Practice could not be exited until the mission was accomplished.) |

Mouse Practice was a tutorial released in 1992 by Apple Computer and created using MacroMind Director where the user joins a scuba diver while learning how to use the mouse. Unlike other computer programs, Mouse Practice could not be exited until the mission was accomplished.)
