Font size in images

I was wondering if the font size (min 0.85x normal font size) also applies to images. In particular, would this figure at effects of climate change be in line with accessibility guidelines? I would argue it's an accessibility issue, but of course, it's possible to enlarge images by clicking on them.. Femke (talk) 10:57, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

At the default width (220px) text in such images would certainly be unreadable even for people with normal sight. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:45, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
True, on my old iPhone 7 in portrait mode, the text is not readable without spreading fingers, which cuts the diagram off on the left or right. However, landscape mode with finger spreading to fill screen to left and right margins, is easily readable. Do the accessibility standards you mention, expect viewers not to have to zoom or spread their fingers? Is doing so truly an accessibility issue? (P.S. The image in the indicated article is at upright=1.75 to match a picture gallery.)—RCraig09 (talk) 19:53, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is a discussion at WikiProject Weather regarding the accessibility of track maps, templates/infoboxes, and timelines for the colorblind community. Feedback would be appreciated. NoahTalk 22:04, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Closed RfC, looking to add some text to this section of the MOS, seeking input (NOT a new RfC)

Hi all,

So there was an RfC on the suggestion to place a space beneath each heading (see here), which I initiated in order to have the option to add a single line of space underneath a section heading without necessarily needing to add another edit yet. I often times "prime" an article first by adding these spaces, and then it is easier for me to read, and then I make the appropriate edits (of a typo, grammatical or other "gnome-like" fix). Another editor took issue with this, and thus a RfC was born. The conclusion of that RfC suggested for a conversation to take place here, in this talk page, with this guidance, Editors are invited to discuss how to phrase an appropriate edit to MOS:ACCESS that would explain the benefits of leaving a white line after headings for visually impaired people, and also the drawbacks for small-screen users. When the phrasing is agreed, the appropriate edit may be made.. Let the "discussion" commence now. . Th78blue (talk) 13:02, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As can be seen in the talk page, before I learned how to formally "close" an RfC, I went ahead and made the edits that I felt were appropriate to the Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Accessibility page, but then I was (rightfully) scolded because I am not uninvolved, and I also had not properly closed the RfC yet. Now that it is closed (see link above), I want to see about discussing the sort of edit that can be made so that these space insertion edits could be made without being reverted, but also so that we take into consideration editors with the small screen issue raised by S Marshall in his closing comments. Th78blue (talk) 13:06, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For anyone concerned, the guidance has now been updated. Zindor (talk) 00:18, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:LISTGAP workaround, please
