FWIW: I personally do not believe you were responsible for it, that the "evidence" so far presented is a shining collection of highly dubious insinuations, and that in his no doubt well-meaning diligence User:Charles Matthews has sewn one too many gold lapels to his uniform. However, I also think your inability to assume good faith (especially in the face of apparently be bad-faith accusations) and your penchant for personal attacks are not doing you any favors. This is just a sad example of clashing attitudes; it has nothing to do with article content.
Please try to remain calm and civil, even if you think what the other side really needs is a good tongue-lashing. Even keeping silent is better than jumping on every perceived attack on your integrity. You're just antagonizing people in the name of your ego. Please don't. It doesn't help anyone, least of all yourself. Just my $0.02. JRM 02:28, 2004 Dec 25 (UTC)

I hope this doesn't disappoint you, but I don't think User:Charles Matthews is the bad guy here, either. I think he's completely barking up the wrong tree, but I also think he's sincere about what he does, and (I use this phrase a lot for some reason) that he really feels he's acting in the best interests of Wikipedia. You're like oil and fire, really: he accuses you of something, based on rather flimsy evidence (if we can call it that), but does so in a relatively polite way; you snap back at him and all he (and many others) hear is confirmation that at the very least you're suspect, which enrages you even more... This is a tempest in a teacup. If everyone sat down and took a good look at what's actually going on, I'm sure this thing would blow over faster than you can say "Cayleigh-Newman operational matrix", even if you'll never become bosom buddies and some feathers will take time to unruffle. Sorry if you've ended up accused of something you didn't do, but frankly you asked for it by supporting a hoax article with a reference you couldn't back up. We take assume good faith seriously, but once people discover that one thing you've said isn't true, people start doubting everything you say. Even a fairly harmless prank like List of letters in the alphabet between A and C can make people suspicious. Better just to avoid any appearance of acting in bad faith. (Note:this is a little blunter than I'd usually be, but your user page says you don't like sugar-coating.) Isomorphic 04:57, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)

:I asked ExplorerCDT on this page (see history) about mentions of "Cayley Operational Matrix" in Handbook of Mathematical Functions (HoMF), which he referred to on VFD. He wrote on my talk page that he had misread HoMF, I asked him (her?) to tell me the passage in HoMF he misread, but he said that he didn't remember, and would check except that he was in the middle of a move and his copy of HoMF is packed away at the moment and unavailable. So maybe this all has an innocent explanation. Hopefully when HoMF is unpacked, he will check it and tell us. (See my talk page for a copy of our discussion - Note to ExplorerCDT, if you left comments on your talk pages it would be easier to have discussions like this. ) Paul August ☎ 05:39, Dec 25, 2004 (UTC)

::* True, but then I'd be at the mercy of agenda-bearing nutjobs like the four above. By the way, I am male. And, right now I can't unpack fast enough. —ExplorerCDT 06:04, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)
:::Well perhaps you could just delete the "nutjobs" and not mine ;-) By the way you also told me that you decided that the article was a hoax after being told by several people that it was. Would you please tell me who they were? Thanks. Paul August ☎ 16:54, Dec 25, 2004 (UTC)

Hi, could you please try to be polite? See Wikipedia:Civility and Wikipedia:Avoid personal attacks. — Matt Crypto 22:37, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)
:* No. I am never, nor will I be compelled to be polite to assholes. I see by your Talk page that you've had run-ins with people who have commented that they read, disagreed, and subsequently ignored your attempts at schoolmarmery in this regard. Count me as another one. —ExplorerCDT 22:47, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Hello. What does this statement mean? The article has been up for 8 months. You can only leave so many clues. ;-) What are the mentions and footnotes in HoMF which you referred to?
