Kaatelal & Sons is an Indian comedy television series that premiered on 16 November 2020 on Sony SAB.[1] Produced under Contiloe Pictures Private Ltd, it stars Megha Chakraborty, Jiya Shankar.[2][3]

Plot

Kaatelal and Sons is the story of two twin sisters Garima and Susheela, who are poles apart in their perspectives, however reach out to a common decision to go against their father's wishes and also against the Indian Society's misogynist and patriarchal ideas of what girls can and cannot do. Set in a misogynist and patriarchal domain of Rohtak, the two sisters, Garima and Susheela choose the most unconventional career for girls – a hairdresser in a men's salon.

Jagat Seth, a man who wants to own all the shops of Hanuman Gali where Kaatelal & sons is found, has a dispute with Dharampal and decides to avenge the latter. Thus, Dharampal is gravely injured in an accident plotted by Jagat, getting his right hand fractured in an accident. It is where the life-journey of Dharampal's twin daughters start when they decide to go against their father's and the whole society's perspectives that daughters cannot continue as the rightful heirs of their father. Garima and Susheela disguise themselves as men Gunnu & Sattu, take the help of their cousin brother Puttu and start running the hair-dressing salon of their ancestors, Kaatelal & Sons.

Meanwhile, Garima falls for Vikram, Jagat's brother and Dr. Pramod falls for Susheela. When Susheela came to know of this, she decided to fool him by making him believe that she had an affair with Gunnu but instead, he came to know about their plan and decided to support them. But, Jagat's spies clicked a photograph of them and even of Garima with Sattu and showed it to Dharampal. He decided to get his daughters married to his servants unaware that they were actually his own daughters. This puts the girls in trouble.[4] The girls tried every attempt to call off the wedding but in vain.

Production

Development

The series was announced by Contiloe Pictures Private Ltd and was confirmed in September 2020 by Sony SAB.[9] The first promo of the series was released on 6 November 2020.[10]

Reception

Nagarathna A of Filmibeat praised the series by stating it inspirational and touching and expressed, "Apart from the concept of the show, the Haryanavi accent is something new for the audiences".
