Daniel Garcia is an American professional wrestler currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he is a member of the Jericho Appreciation Society. He also appears for AEW's sister promotion Ring of Honor (ROH), where he is the current Pure Champion in his first reign. He also competes for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), he is the current World Champion in his first reign. He has won the Battle of Los Angeles tournament in 2022.

Professional wrestling career

Early career (2017–2018)

Garcia was trained by Brandon Thurston and Jesse Guilmette. Garcia began competing for Limitless Wrestling in 2018.[4] Garcia won the Limitless World Championship in March 2021.[4] He lost the title to Anthony Greene in September.[5]

WWE (2018 & 2021)

He appeared for WWE on an episode of 205 Live in July 2018, during which he lost against Drew Gulak.[1] In January 2021, Garcia once again appeared for WWE on NXT, losing to Tyler Rust.[6]

New Japan Pro-Wrestling (2018–2022)

Garcia made his debut for New Japan Pro-Wrestling on the October 20th 2021 edition of NJPW Strong, where he teamed with Fred Rosser and Fred Yehi, in a losing effort to Clark Connors, Ren Narita and T. J. Perkins.[7] In September, Garcia lost to Jay White.[8]

All Elite Wrestling

Early appearances (2020–2022)

Garcia made his debut in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) on the September 15, 2020 episode of Dark as an enhancement talent by teaming with Kevin Blackwood against The Butcher and the Blade in a losing effort.[9] After making a few appearances as an enhancement talent, Garcia picked up his first win in AEW by defeating Fuego Del Sol on the August 10, 2021 episode of Dark.[10]

Garcia made his Dynamite debut at Homecoming by teaming with 2.0 (Matt Lee and Jeff Parker) against Darby Allin, Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley in a six-man tag team match, which Garcia's team lost. Garcia would lose to Allin on the August 11 episode of Dynamite. However, Garcia received praise for his performance. He would later receive acclaim for his performances against high-profile wrestlers such as CM Punk, Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson. On October 19, Garcia signed a full-time contract with AEW.[11] On the January 12, 2022 episode of Dynamite, Garcia unsuccessfully challenged Sammy Guevara for the interim TNT Championship. Jericho Appreciation Society (2022–present)

On the March 9 episode of Dynamite, Garcia alongside 2.0 attacked Eddie Kingston, Ortiz and Santana. They subsequently formed a stable with Chris Jericho and Jake Hager called the Jericho Appreciation Society, thus breaking up Jericho's former group The Inner Circle.[12] JAS began feuding with Kingston, Ortiz, Santana and the Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta). Garcia made his pay-per-view debut at Double or Nothing on May 29, where JAS defeated Danielson, Moxley, Kingston, Ortiz and Santana in an Anarchy in the Arena match. Garcia made his debut for AEW's sister promotion Ring of Honor (ROH) at Death Before Dishonor, where he unsuccessfully challenged Wheeler Yuta for the ROH Pure Championship. However, on the September 7 episode of AEW Dynamite, Garcia defeated Yuta in a rematch to win the Pure Championship.

Personal life

Garcia was trained in professional wrestling by Brandon Thurston and The Blade.[15][16]

In January 2019, Garcia broke both of his legs in a car accident involving three other wrestlers. The vehicle he was riding in crashed after hitting black ice.[17][18] Garcia returned to wrestling six months later. The following year, he graduated from Buffalo State College with a communications degree.[3]
