Revert, if I want a lesson in AfD closing (which apparently I don't need, given I was recently confirmed as an administrator 233/3/3), I'd ask.

:Thanks so much for that; I did it once in the past, here (talk). Nasty case of tab-mixup :) Cheers, and thanks so much for that, Daniel Bryant 11:16, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

AfD 101
let me point you to Wikipedia:Deletion_guidelines_for_administrators#Deciding_whether_to_delete:
# Whether consensus has been achieved by determining a "rough consensus" (see below)
# Use common sense and respect the judgment and feelings of Wikipedia participants.
# As a general rule, don't close discussions or delete pages whose discussions you've participated in. Let someone else do it.
# When in doubt, don't delete. [boldface in the original]

you closed an AfD with "delete" based on a 16:6:14 keep/merge/delete ratio, based on your personal (I might add, completely uninformed) take on the topic (not the AfD process). This is unacceptable. There was no "rough consensus" to delete. You did *not* respect the gist of the AfD participants. You had an opinion on the topic, and still decided to close the debate in the face of the result. Apparently, you were not even in "doubt" about doing the right thing. You refuse to acknowledge you made a mistake. This is all unacceptable behaviour in an admin who should be aware of how AfD works. I am sorry to say this, but you have betrayed the trust placed in you, and I will be forced to compose an admin conduct RfC, and your case will also figure as a prominent example of WP beginning to cave in under the sustained propaganda attack in the Hindutva arbitration case that is certain to come up sooner or later. Any admin closing this AfD without personal involvement or opinion would have judged "no consensus" as a matter of course, because of the simple numbers involved. I honestly see no way to defend your course of action. I might also add that it is very annoying that you keep archiving comments related to this case from your talkpage. Hi. I suspect this user has more socks: User:Booshaklla, User:AbbyWrickler, User:Earlofyens, and User:Dime ond. — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 06:10, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any background information/any reason you brought it to me, rather than to WP:SSP? I don't remember ever interacting with/blocking sockpuppts of this user. Cheers, Daniel Bryant 09:33, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

the time......

i was wiki-flying by your userpage, and saw you had a link to the time - did you know that you can just say 'the time in adelaide is 05:14'? - I would have been cheeky and thrown it in for you, but your page is protected...

happy easter!

...but now i'm not even sure if it works, that'll learn me..... (btw it's 05:44 for me......
...please delete this clutter if you feel like it! - cheers, Petesmiles 06:54, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It does work - I used it at my old talk page header (see User talk:Daniel.Bryant/Header, at the bottom of the large white box). However, the problem with this was that, to update the time, you had to purge the page (because it was transcluded); people didn't realise this, and always got the wrong time (often by 12 hours :D). Instead, I use the external link, as it is handy for me as well (it's got the weather and everything - brilliant). By the way, it's probably not a good idea to go around making changes to other people's userpages - many Wikipedians don't like it, especially without prior discussion (unless, of course, you're removing stuff which isn't allowed). Thanks anyways, (late) happy Easter to you too, and cheers, Daniel Bryant 09:36, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think you hit the big red button on the wrong tab there. :) MER-C 11:09, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for that; I did it once in the past, here (talk). Nasty case of tab-mixup :) Cheers, and thanks so much for that, Daniel Bryant 11:16, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
