Peter Nehr (born June 29 1952), American politician, was a Republican member of the Florida State House of Representatives since 2006 until present, representing the 48th District of Florida.

He was born in Kapfenberg bei Graz, Austria, began his education at the St. Petersburg Junior College, now known as ,St. Petersburg College and completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science at the University of South Florida. Nehr has lived the American dream in this wonderful country; created a successful business, American Spirit Flag Shop which was a Two-time winner of the Tarpon Chamber’s “Business of the Year” award. He has grown 3 sons - Christopher, Brian and Clifford.

Nehr lives in the City of Tarpon Springs, Florida which is on Florida's Gulf coast in a modest home with his wife, Anita, who he married in 1990; and has 2 Shetland Sheepdogs, Maggie & Ziggy. With the boys grown now, it provides Nehr with time to devote to giving back to the community by acting as a public servant.

Beginning in 2002, Nehr served 2 terms as City Commissioner for the city of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and on the Board of Directors of the Tarpon Springs Historical Society. He was the organizer of Tarpon Springs' first Military Appreciation Day Parade. He served also as a Guardian Ad Litem in the State of Florida in Pinellas County.

Nehr has an "Open Door" policy with all of the people in his District and favors Town Hall meetings as a forum for meeting with people so that they may air their concerns and he may provide important information they may not have had access to previously.
