PC Emma Hinckley is a character in the long-running ITV Drama The Bill, played by Melanie Gutteridge. Her callsign is '361'. Emma joined the series in January 2006. She has appeared in 54 of the 120 episodes since her arrival.

Personal Life and Background
Emma has recently graduated from University. From a middle class background, she is the daughter of DCI Frank Keane from the Department of Professional Standards (DPS) but is determined to prove that she earned her position in the Police because of her merits rather than nepotism. Emma comes across as smart, fun-loving and likeable.

Marriage and Relationships
Emma married CPS solicitor Matt Hinckley in late 2006. It is widely thought that Emma agreed to marry Matt out of guilt for cheating on him with PC Will Fletcher, however the night before her wedding (to be fair she was quite drunk) she opened up to Matt and told him about the brief affair.

Matt got his friends to beat up Will but during the course of the next day as Will gave Matt a well deserved punch as well they both dropped the charges against the other. Emma and Matt got married and both went back at work after their honeymoon. The latest hurdle however in the Matt/Emma relationship is that Matt wants to start a family with Emma fairly soon but she doesn't feel ready.

On the 2nd and 3rd of May, Emma had an argument with her husband Matt and he attempted to strangle her. She hit him in the head with a Vodka bottle which was just in reach. Matt later said Emma tried to kill him but was later arrested. Emma has grown closer to PC Will Fletcher who helped her trough her hard period with Matt.

Training
After graduating from University, PC Hinckley did five weeks of her training at Hendon before being posted to Sun Hill in January 2006, and completed the rest of her training in August 2006. She is currently serving as a Probationary Poilce Constable in Sun Hill.
