Established in 1860, Investors Chronicle is the best selling personal finance title in the UK.

Published on a weekly basis with an ABC certified circulation of 34,900, the magazine provides investors with analysis of global markets and sectors,in-depth features and news on takeovers and share issues. Investors Chronicle carries the brand name of the Financial Times group, and provides essential reading for private investors.

HISTORY

Investors Chronicle started life in 1860 as the weekly Money Market Review. In 1914, it merged with the Investor's Chronicle and Journal of Finance, started in the 1890s. Then in 1928, publication of the amalgamated title was taken over by Brendan Bracken - the man behind the modern Financial Times. In 1967, Investors Chronicle merged again, this time with the Stock Exchange Gazette. And in 1978, it re-established its connection with the Financial Times, by becoming part of the FT Group. It has been part of the group ever since, and is now published by FT Business, the financial magazine division of FT Group, which is owned by Pearson plc.

CONTENT

Investors Chronicle is edited by Matthew Vincent, who, along with a team of over thirty journalists provides comprehensive coverage and analysis of investing. They cover over 2,500 companies each year, encompassing all of the FTSE 100, 250, 350 and 500 companies as well as companies listed on AIM.

Each week within the magazine there are also 6 tips to provide investors with ideas to help them make profits

Readership

With an audited circulation of nearly 35,000, Investors Chronicle is predominantly read by sophisticated high net worth private investors. Its readers represent the most committed long-term investor demographic – and they keep investing through both bull and bear markets with an average of 5 investments on the go at any one time. The percentage of IC readers working in Banking, Finance or Insurance is over three times the national average.

Supplements

Investors Chronicle also produces a number of regular supplements covering a wide range of collective investments and broad personal finance issues.

Money Planner - Issued on the first Friday of the month, Money Planner explains when and where to invest and features articles on Investment Trusts, Unit Trusts, DIY Pensions.

Buyers Guide - Launched in October 2004, Buyers Guide offers readers a comprehensive overview of a range of products with the aim of highlighting the best performing products from within that sector. Previous topics include Index Tracker Funds, Investment Trusts, Hedge Funds and CFDs.

Masterclass - The Guide to Better Investing - Published on the last Friday of the month, Masterclass supplements offer readers an insight into new and existing invetment tools and trading strategies with the focus on offering educational and practical guidance. Recent topics have included Absolute Returns, Playing the FTSE, Spread Betting.

AWARDS

The Investors Chronicle Investment Awards recognise stockbrokers and other product and service providers that are the best in their fields. Like other industry awards, the Investors Chronicle Investment Awards are based on the results of a reader poll that traditionally yields almost 1,000 responses.

EVENTS

Investors Chronicle organises a number of seminars and events throughout the year. Their Masterclass seminar programme offers readers a unique opportunity to meet like-minded investors and engage in educational presentations from specialists operating in a variety of different markets and sectors.

They also run Investors Chronicle Roadshows in May and November throughout the UK bringing investment ideas to its readers.

Investors Chronicle has had an online service since 1996 which complements the weekly Investors Chronicle magazine. Together, the website and the magazine aim to help private investors make rewarding investment decisions. Investors Chronicle has recently launched its new website which is the most comprehensive offering yet.
