Stocksbridge Park Steels F.C. are a football club based at Bracken Moor (recently changed to The Look Local Stadium) in Stocksbridge, South Yorkshire, England.

They were formed in 1986, after a merger between Stocksbridge Works FC and Oxley Park FC. They are currently playing in the Northern Premier League Division One South. They Play in Yellow & Blue. In 2006/07 they became the first club to win both the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup & Association Cup, Steels have appointed Gary Marrow the new manager ahead of the 2007/08 season.

History

In the early years 1986-91 the Steels ploughed all their resources into the Bracken Moor Stadium so as to meet ground grading criteria and enable the Club to rise through the non-league pyramid system.

The appointment of Mick Horne and Trevor Gough as Team Manager and Assistant in February 1991 heralded a period of success. Under Horne and Gough, Steels started their run to the present Unibond League.

1993/4 saw Stocksbridge win the Premier division of the NCEL, but Steels celebrations were cut short when the ground improvements necessitated were not at an advanced enough state to allow Steels to take place in the Unibond League. The following season Steels finished in 3rd place and in 1995/96 they were runners up to Hatfield Main and gained promotion to the Unibond First Division. Steels made steady progress in the first five seasons in the Unibond League, with the highest placed position of 4th achieved in 2000/01.

In 2002 Wayne Biggins was subsequently appointed Player/Manager after a short spell as Assistant Manager, with Graham Furness as Assistant.

In the 2002/03 season, Paul Jackson, equaled an FA Cup record of ten goals in one game, during the Steels 17-1 thrashing of Oldham Town.

Steels had their best FA Cup run in the 2003/2004 season reaching the third qualifying round eventually losing away at Shildon.

In November 2003 Peter Rinkcavage was appointed as Manager from Gainsborough Trinity with Paul Bradshaw as Assistant Manager. Season 2005/2006 was the best season Stocksbridge have had in a few years as they reached the Unibond League Cup final losing 1-0 to Farsley Celtic, and lost in both the Sheffield Senior Cup semi final & the play off semi final for the UniBond League Premier Division.

The Club eventually hopes to gain promotion to the Unibond Premier League and following improvements over the last 12 months the ground is now up to the required league standard.

In May 2007 Steels won thier first piece of silverware under Peter Rinkcavage beating Worksop Town 2-1 in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup at Hillsborough with goals from Dave Cockerill and Stuart Copnell, the club also completed a first double with the second team winning the Sheffield & Hallamshire Association Cup as well.

In June however Peter Rinkcavage stood down as manager to take up the reigns of Worksop Town taking Jason Maybury with him, the club then broke the news on the 7th June that Gary Marrow (Ex Frickley & Grantham Boss) will be the new man to take charge of Stocksbridge

Stocksbridge Park Steels have always played thier games a The Look Local Stadium, the ground is sponsored by the local newspaer "Look Local" for the next 5 years to help bring much needed revenue into the club, The ground was also the home to both the old Works team and Church team. The Stocksbridge gorund is one of the best grounds in the area with a main stand that holds 450+ seats, and was the first club to install a temporary fence to gain promotion, the pitch is one if not the best in the unibond league and away clubs always comment on the pitch, the club also has a reputation for selling some of the best pies which are supplied by Pukka Pies. The supporters club are trying to raise money to replace the wooden seating with plastic seating to modernise the main stand, vist thier website for more details

Main Stand Sheffield Wednesday have helped in a big way to refurbish The Steels main stand. Not only did Wednesday provide the seating for free but they were also only too pleased to offer advice on how to install them.

Fence Stocksbridge Park Steels is the only club in England which had to build a temporary 1.80 metre fence to be promoted, this is unheard of in any other league club, but rules being rules Steels carried out the erection of the fence that can be taken down for the cricket season. The funding of this came from local sponsors and pre-season friendlies with Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday
