Public Space Broadcasting is a project involving the British Broadcasting Corporation, Philips and other technology providers and local councils to install LED screens with sound systems in prominent locations in historic city centres. There are currently six UK cities and one town which have one with an eighth opening shortly.
Locations
Birmingham
The Big Screen in Birmingham is currently located in Chamberlain Square alongside the Grade I Listed- Birmingham Town Hall but is due to move to another city centre site later in 2007, One of the earliest screens in the Public Space broadcasting project, this screen was temporarily installed adjacent to the Town Hall during its refurbishment pending a permanent site in time for the autumn reopening of the building. This is presently under discussion.
Bradford
The Big Screen in Bradford is located in Centenary Square.
Hull
The Big Screen in Hull is located in Queen Victoria Square.
Leeds
The Big Screen in Leeds is located in Millennium Square.
Liverpool
The Big Screen in Liverpool is located in Clayton Square, close to Liverpool Lime Street railway station.
Manchester
The Big Screen in Manchester is located in Exchange Square.
Rotherham
The Big Screen in Rotherham is located in the town Square

The Cornerhouse in Manchester, supported by the City Council and The Arts Council of England "pioneered daily screenings of the work of local film makers, under the title "The Bigger Picture". From the first school video projects by local children to the work of international video artists, the Manchester screen carries an hour of rich and diverse locally made films each day."[citation needed]
Upcoming Videos
Birmingham
A set of videos showing pre and post-war Birmingham will be shown outlining the development of the city courtesy of Birmingham Central Library archives.
In February 2006, the screen showed a series of short films from local film-makers including: Scribble, The Lodger, The Art of Keeping Goldfish and Love in a Lecture Theatre.
Hull
Stepping Up TV, featuring the huge changes happening in the city with regeneration.
Liverpool
In May, a short film called "Northenders" based around a gang of kids. The video is aimed at littering.
