'''''Hi Justen''''', and a '''[[Wikipedia:Welcome%2C_newcomers|warm welcome to Wikipedia]]!''' I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! '''[[WP:BB|Be Bold]]'''! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

<blockquote><table width="400"><tr><td>
<ul style="font-size:85%;padding:.3em 0 .3em 25px;margin:0">
<li> '''[[Wikipedia:Tutorial|Editing tutorial]]''', learn to have fun with Wikipedia.</li>
<li> '''[[Wikipedia:Picture tutorial|Picture tutorial]]''', instructions on uploading images.</li>
<li> '''[[Wikipedia:How to write a great article|How to write a great article]]''', to make it an featured article status.</li>
<li> '''[[Wikipedia:Manual of Style|Manual of Style]]''', how articles should be written.</li>
</td></tr></table></blockquote>

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some '''[[Template:Opentask|open tasks]]''' that you may want to help out :

<blockquote><table width="400"><tr><td>
[[Image:Evolution-tasks.png|right]]
<ul style="font-size:85%;padding:.3em 0 .3em 25px;margin:0">
<li>'''[[WP:RC|RC Patrol]]''' - Keeping a lookout for [[WP:DWV|vandalism]].</li>
<li> '''[[WP:CU|Cleanup]]''' - Help make unreadable articles readable.</li>
<li> '''[[WP:RA|Requests]]''' - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.</li>
<li> '''[[WP:DA|Merge]]''' - Combining duplicate articles into one.</li>
<li> '''[[WP:WikiProject|Wikiprojects]]''' - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!</li>
</td></tr></table></blockquote>

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on '''[[WP:TP|talk pages]]''', simply type four tildes, like this: <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my '''[[User_talk:Mailer_diablo|talk page]]'''. Once again, welcome! =)

==Request for Mediation==

A [[WP:RFM|request for mediation]] has been filed with the [[WP:MC|Mediation Committee]] that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at [[Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Kaiser Permanente]], and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to [[Wikipedia:Mediation]]. '''There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible.''' ==Image copyright problem with Image:Jan_Kesner.jpg==
Thanks for uploading [[:Image:Jan_Kesner.jpg]]. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The [[Wikimedia Foundation]] is very careful about the images included in [[Wikipedia]] because of [[copyright law]] (see Wikipedia's [[Wikipedia:Copyright|Copyright policy]]).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are [[open content]], [[public domain]], and [[fair use]]. Find the appropriate template in [[Wikipedia:Image copyright tags]] and place it on the image page like this: <code><nowiki>{{TemplateName}}</nowiki></code>.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by [[User:OrphanBot|OrphanBot]]. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on [[Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags]] or [[User talk:Carnildo/images]]. 06:49, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

== [[Chiropractic]] edit war ==

You are in danger of violating the [[Wikipedia:Three-revert rule|three-revert rule]] on {{{1|a page}}}. Please cease further reverts or you may be [[WP:BAN|blocked]] from further editing. <!-- Template:3RR2 --> '''[[Special:Contributions/Newsmare|<font color="red">◄</font>]][[User talk:Newsmare|<font color="red">ИΞШSΜΛЯΞ</font>]][[User_talk:Newsmare|<font color="red">►</font>]]''' 00:01, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

:Thank you for the warning. I was aware. [[User:Justen|Justen Deal]] 00:14, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
:
:I should add... You stated in your edit summary for the revert: "rv. 3RR coming into play next time - mccready attempted dispute resolution/compromise on the talk page, but you choose to ignore it and continue edit warring.)" I understand you've just familiarised yourself with this article [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Chiropractic&diff=prev&oldid=46019653 today], but it's important to note that there is no compromising on [[WP:RS]] and [[WP:V]]. An "edit war," in my mind, requires that I might take a position on the "edits" that are being disputed... I don't. I take issue with those edits being added without being reliably and verifiably sourced. Certainly [[User:Mccready]] has added his thoughts to the [[Talk:Chiropractic]] page, but nobody, to date, has found reason for adding content to the article that cannot be verified. These statements are important to the subject of the article, but Wikipedia requires the statements be verifiable and reliable. So far, you, nor [[User:Mccready]], nor anybody else (for that matter), have offered a source for the statements you're trying to add into the article. I have searched, and cannot find any to support the statements myself. That means the edits need to come out of the article until someone (preferably whoever added the statements) can source it. [[User:Justen|Justen Deal]] 00:26, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
::For the record, I'm not trying to add any statements to the text. I'm simply resetting a clumsy revert and hoping somebody (you for instance) makes a more surgical edit. Preferably, although not necessarily, after discussion of the 'offending' material. To be honest I couldn't care any less about the subject. If you cannot find the sources for the statements then edit them out manually, seeing as other edits were made in the interim. Reverting, especially when it includes valid and unrelated edits, just stunts the growth of the article in question. I'm amazed at the number of editors who don't check what they're editing before they hit the save page button. That's the very reason I was there on that page in the first place today, because [[User:Drdr1989|Drdr1989]] totally changed the meaning of a sentence by butchering it and not reading the result (or just lacking the faculty to notice the difference when they did). People are wondering why simple spelling errors they've already corrected are creeping back into the article, and it's because of the kind of ham-fisted reverts you've just pulled. '''[[Special:Contributions/Newsmare|<font color="red">◄</font>]][[User talk:Newsmare|<font color="red">ИΞШSΜΛЯΞ</font>]][[User_talk:Newsmare|<font color="red">►</font>]]''' 01:30, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

== Reply to Justen ==

Thank you Justen for those kind words. I am not sure which statement you were originally talking about, but I think it has been removed. You, too, are doing a great job of editing and have a very good grasp of the guidelines of WP, more than I have. I just remove the anti-chiropractic hate bilge and return things to a more NPOV. For some reason, there are those who have never even been to a chiropractor like Mccready who has it in for chiropractic. Go figure. He was sent to the naughty corner, but doesn't seem to have learned anything from his time-out. For good measure, he even started bad-mouthing an admin. Not the best way to endear onself to the authorities, now was it? LOL So keep up the good work, I think we work together well, eh? [[User:Steth|Steth]] 04:07, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading '''[[:Image:Wiki-mu-oldmain.jpg]]'''. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the [[copyright]] status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{tl|GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the [[GFDL]]. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading [[Wikipedia:Fair use|fair use]], and then use a tag such as {{tlp|Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at [[Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use]]. See [[Wikipedia:Image copyright tags]] for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "[[Special:Contributions/{{PAGENAME}}|my contributions]]" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on [[wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#Images.2FMedia|criteria for speedy deletion]]. If you have any questions please ask them at the [[Wikipedia:Media copyright questions|Media copyright questions page]]. Thank you. <span style="font-family:Verdana;">'''[[User:Howcheng|<span style="color: #33C;">howch</span>]][[Wikipedia:Esperanza|<span style="color:#0F0">''e''</span>]][[User:Howcheng|<span style="color:#33C">ng</span>]]''' <small>{[[User talk:Howcheng|chat]]}</small></span> 17:44, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

I noticed recently that Chirotalk has started its own self-promoting article on WP. I nominated it for deletion. As someone who has recently edited the chiropractic article and discussion pages, I thought you might want to chime in with your thoughts [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Chirotalk here].

I wanted to let you know that [[4H]] is not a camping or scouting organization. Although some clubs support camp outings, it is not common. The page has been categorized as a [[:Category:Non-aligned Scouting organizations]] but this is dubious and I will probably discuss removal. The camping section needs to be edited as well. Have you considered other pages for the Native American section?

Hi Justen, I was wondering why you downcased PerotSystems.com in the company infobox? Personally I think the camel case domain name is somewhat more readable, and just as valid as the lower case version. [[User:MarkBrooks|MarkBrooks]] 04:04, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

== Your RfC on Yamla ==

I have reviewed your RfC against administrator Yamla. It is always useful when editors take the time to outline their concerns. However, as outlined in Yamla's response, several of the blocks that you are concerned about ''were not blocked by Yamla''. Rather, Yamla reviewed blocks placed by ''other'' administrators and reversed or shortened them, either because he thought the blocks were inappropriate to begin with, or because the issue with the blocked user had been resolved. Please see Yamla's response and my comment on the RfC and consider withdrawing or updating it. Thanks, [[User:Newyorkbrad|Newyorkbrad]] 17:37, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

== [[4-H]] and [[WP:SCOUT]] ==
No it's not final. What came about was that someone had added even communist youth orgs the that cat and we decided to go in and purge it. Since the 4-H article didn't even mention Scouting, it was one I purged. If you could add some lines to the 4-H article about how/why it's could be considered a Scouting org, I'll add it back in. Showing 4-H uses the Scout method and/or is tied to Baden-Powell or BSA would be even better. Lv answer on my talk page.[[User:Rlevse|Rlevse]] 17:51, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

== 71Demon ==

Just to clear something up regarding 71Demon. He was told by multiple admins, both here and on unblock-en-l, that his characterising his block as a "spite block" was a personal attack and would not be tolerated. Note that it is ''not'' just my block that he is characterising as such. He was specifically told by another admin, "Please, never do that again. Ever." It is because he chose to continue the same personal attacks he was specifically warned about that resulted in my warning to him. Provided he refrains from any further personal attacks, I welcome his contributions to the Wikipedia generally and to the RfC specifically. --[[User:Yamla|Yamla]] 23:47, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

You said: "I recognize your concern regarding the two edits ([http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:71Demon&diff=prev&oldid=106162327 one], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:71Demon&diff=prev&oldid=106162133 two]) [[User:71Demon|71Demon]] made, which seem to be the most immediate reasons for your [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:71Demon&diff=prev&oldid=106415922 warning]. I believe that, in effect, the warning only served to potentially provoke the user and further escalate the situation. Please consider [[WP:BITE#How_to_avoid_being_a_.22biter.22|not biting]] and [[WP:NOFEEDING#Misidentified_trolls|not feeding]]. Given the user's animosity relating to your conduct specifically, please also consider refraining from further engaing the user directly, and, instead, please consider [[WP:AN/I|asking other administrators to intervene]] should you believe further administrative action regarding the user is necessary."

:Will do, with the exception of commenting on it on my RfC if he does the same thing again, and blanking attacks from my user talk page. If you believe this to be half-hearted or otherwise insufficient, please let me know and we'll discuss further. --[[User:Yamla|Yamla]] 00:14, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

:Just to be clear, my comment on the RfC would only be if he did the same thing on the RfC page itself. --[[User:Yamla|Yamla]] 00:14, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

== Mount St. Mary's ==

Thank you for your message. I searched for '''Mount Saint Mary's College''', and got redirected to [[Mount St. Mary's College]] which wasn't the one I was looking for. So I changed [[Mount Saint Mary's College]] from a redirect into a disambiguation page.

If you would prefer not to have the extra layer of disambiguaton, you are welcome to replace it with a redirect to [[Mount St. Mary's]]. But that isn't the same as ''reverting'' my edits.

I'm not part of [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Saints]]. I'm part of [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation]], trying to fix ambiguous links to Saint Mary's, St. Mary's, St Mary's, St Marys, and so on. [[User:CarolGray|CarolGray]] 15:06, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

:The redirects I changed before I have now changed again so that they point to [[Mount St. Mary's]] (via [[Mount St. Mary's (disambiguation)]] so it is clear that they are intentional links to the dab page). There are still two ambiguous links to [[Mount Saint Mary's College]] which I hope you may be able to put right - they are from [[Jane Garvey]] and [[List of living philosophers and academics of philosophy]]. Then, [[Mount Saint Mary's College]] can become a redirect to [[Mount St. Mary's]]. I've also added a link from dab page [[Saint Mary's]] to [[Mount St. Mary's]].

:I hope this all okay with you now.[[User:CarolGray|CarolGray]] 21:16, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

==Unspecified source for Image:Wiki-mu-byrd.jpg==

Thanks for uploading '''[[:Image:Wiki-mu-byrd.jpg]]'''. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the [[copyright]] status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{tl|GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the [[GFDL]]. If you believe the media meets the criteria at [[Wikipedia:Fair use]], use a tag such as {{tlp|Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at [[Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use]]. ==Removal of valid Sprint Nextel links==

I noticed you removed valid links for Sprint Nextel. Every single one of them is valid and they do not violate any of the rules. They have been here for 2 years. It is not right to delete links they are helpful to others. Seeing as this is a place for useful into on Sprint Nextel, then links are helpful to both new and current customers. If you delete them again, I will report you. Feel free to come discuss this on the profile. <small>—The preceding [[Wikipedia:Signatures|unsigned]] comment was added by [[User:74.241.162.122|74.241.162.122]] ([[User talk:74.241.162.122|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/74.241.162.122|contribs]]){{#if:23:36, 17 April 2007 (PST)|&#32;23:36, 17 April 2007 (PST)|}}.</small><!-- Template:Unsigned -->

:::This edit summary you left when readding the links to the Spring Nextel article is also worth retaining here: ''17:33, 18 April 2007 70.156.1.228 (Talk) (Yes this place is! Wiki is info! If you want to add to the Sprint NExtel profile, then feel free to. But coming here and deleting the hard work of users is not the way to go about it. If you have a bias for another carrier, then that is your problem. But I have been updating this profile for going on 3 years now. You have not done anything but deleting content that is help, and that has been here for years. I am sick of newbies coming in after years of hard work, and causing problems, when NO ONE else has complained about the links.

LEt's figure this out, but you can not delete everyone of those links. That is the work of many people over years.

[[User:70.156.1.228|70.156.1.228]] 01:23, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

:Please read [[WP:NOT#LINK]]. If you have invested a lot of work in compiling a list of nineteen external links, I apologize, but that work is not in line with what Wikipedia is intended to be. '''Wikipedia is not intended to be a directory of links.''' The ''article'' is not a "profile." There are websites that exist solely to collect links about a company or category. [[DMOZ]] is one such site. In instances where there is a need or desire for a large amount of external links, Wikipedia can and does link to the appropriate DMOZ category. I'd suggest you look into pursuing including the nineteen links in an appropriate DMOZ category.

:But, please understand, [[WP:AGF]] and [[WP:CIV]] are fairly clear that calling your fellow editors ''newbies'' is quite inappropriate (and distracting from any other legitimate argument you might make). Additionally, my personal choice of mobile phone service has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that including nineteen external links on the Sprint Nextel article is a violation of [[WP:NOT#LINK]]. You will note, for example, that the [[Cingular]] and [[Verizon Wireless]] articles each have three or fewer external links. [[User:Justen|Justen]] 01:33, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

::I believe you just left this comment on my blog. ''I understand that people like yourself, basically geeks, find a source of power hiding behind your computer. But by deleting links that others have worked so hard to add, is disrespectful. I have worked on the Sprint Nextel profile for going on 3 years. Most of the new content has been added by me. When I first came across the profile, it had 2 articles and 1 link. It has grown to include all kinds of info. If you want to add to the profile, then that is great. We need all the help we can get. But deleting imporant info, just because you have a bias for another carrier, is wrong. And after seeing your profile, and the fact that you have been with differnt carriers, for a number of years, but only a few phones here and there. You understanding is limited. If you want to work with me on finding what links should stay and go, then let's do it. We can talk about it on the discussion page. If not, I will figure it by myself and keep changing it for years to come. But being an *** hole and disrespecting people from the safety of your computer, is petty.q '' Left by adsl-156-1-228.bna.bellsouth.net (70.156.1.228).

Hi. I don't really agree with your removal of the reference. Not a big deal. I was not the editor who added the note, but feel that it is not trivia and should remain. Your main concern can be adequately addressed with a fact tag (which I have added). I suspect that the section on old signage may have to be removed at some point soon as I doubt a proper reference will be found, but I also suspect another editor will soon find a source for the rest of it. As for your suggestion that it is somehow a non-sequitur to use the references section, we'll have to respectfully agree to disagree. Since you are initiating a change that another editor disagrees with, your next step as per [[WP:CON]] is to seek consensus on the article talk page for the removal of the reference. Native American imagery on 4H

Hi Justen,

I wanted to let you know that 4H is not a camping or scouting organization. Although some clubs support camp outings, it is not common. The page has been categorized as a Category:Non-aligned Scouting organizations but this is dubious and I will probably discuss removal. The camping section needs to be edited as well. Have you considered other pages for the Native American section?

Since you are initiating a change that another editor disagrees with, your next step as per WP:CON is to seek consensus on the article talk page for the removal of the reference. Skeezix1000 19:54, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I am well aware of WP:OWN. Personally, I do not typically believe that anyone that disagrees with me is guilty of offending WP:OWN, but it seems you have a different view. To each their own.

I was well aware of the content of your previous edit. I simply disagreed with it, as all of the concerns you had raised could be dealt with through a fact tag. You claim the content is trivia, but then you have edited the article (twice) to elevate it to its own paragraph in the introductory section of the article. Whereas I believe it is valuable content, I don't share your apparent view that it needs to be more prominent, with its own paragraph (in the introduction no less).

I believe that footnotes are very well suited to this type of content, and specifically for this situation. It isn't isn't that it "must" be a footnote, as you put it, but rather that it is a far preferable treatment than your two solutions (first, to delete the content entirely, or your second solution to add it to the article introduction). It is a snippet of information that would fit awkwardly elsewhere in the article, and it really relates best to the company name, which is introduced in the lead paragraph and the infobox (really, the footnote could go in either place).

You say "Really at a loss for words here... ", but that's really unfair. You have not pointed to any policy, guideline or precedent which would suggest that the use of a footnote here is inappropriate, so I am unsure as to why you are so perplexed that someone might actually have the temerity to disagree with you. In fact, Wikipedia guidelines suggest that this is an appropriate use of a footnote. WP:FOOT states: "Footnotes are sometimes useful for relevant text that would distract from the main point if embedded in the main text, yet are helpful in explaining a point in greater detail. Footnotes are also often used to cite references that are relevant to a text."

You disagree with the use of the footnote. Fine. But since it has been in the article for some time (it wasn't me who added it), another editor disagrees with your edit and you have no policy or guideline that suggests the use of the footnote is inappropriate, WP:CON suggests that your next step is to seek consensus for the change on the talk page. If other editors agree with you, great - make the change. But in the meantime, please refrain from suggesting that anyone who disagrees with you must have a nut loose. Skeezix1000 20:19, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You need to read WP:OWN, because you appear not to understand its purpose or intent. It isn't intended to browbeat other editors who disagree with your views. It is particularly ironic that you seem intent on making this accusation against another editor, when you are the one who is insisting on a change to the article, despite having no policies or guidelines in supoport of that change (in fact, the one guideline that has been raises suggests the opposite), and you seem to have little regard for the comments I have made. The last thing I will say in response to WP:OWN is "people who live in glass houses...".

You need to step back, understand that other editors can have valid reasons for disagreeing with you, and focus your comments on the content, rather than on baseless accusations of misconduct. I would be happy to discuss this with you once you are able to engage in a discussion on the merits, rather than throwing around warnings and other nonsense. Skeezix1000 11:44, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't debate this anymore with you. I don't have the energy to deal with an editor who is incapable of having an adult discussion over the content of the article, but seems intent on making baseless accusations ("ownership issues", "revert war", etc) and posting condescending tags on the talk pages of other users. I eliminated the tag because you had already made the accusation, and the tag simply went beyond the bounds of WP:AGF and WP:CIVIL. And, please, stop telling me that I have not looked at your revised edits. I will say it one more time: just because someone disagrees with you, it does not mean that they have not read your edits, nor does it mean that they are in violation of WP:OWN. It is rich that you are citing WP:OWN, given that you seem intent on bulldozing anyone who disagrees with your view.

I have explained why the use of the footnote is appropriate. I believe that the articles you have cited represent a different situation entirely, and I do not believe that the use of the footnote represents burying content (the guideline states otherwise). However, I just don't have the patience to go into any further detail, and to discuss the merits of our two positions, because you are clearly not interested in having that discussion. You win, I give up. This has been tiresome and thoroughly disagreeable. Skeezix1000 13:38, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whether or not you have the energy to "deal with" the fact that you exhibited some pretty clear WP:OWNership issues, and that you (and I) were progressing an ongoing revert war, you should really probably recognize that saying another editor is "incapable of having an adult discussion" is pretty far outside the boundaries of WP:CIVIL. In any event, best of luck with your corner of Wikipedia. I'll try to steer clear of it in the future. (Perfect illustration of the need for WP:OWN, no?) Justen 13:55, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
