Sorry to hear that :x I can't find the deleted articles though, were you using an other username? Or maybe there's a glitch somewhere :). For the categories, in fact that's working backwards, you simply need to add <nowiki>[[Category:Paddle steamers]]</nowiki> to your article, and it will show up on the list. For your articles, I suggest you so state why these two boats are different from the other boats constructed at the same time (why they received coverage, their story: "last xxx", "first xxx to have xxx", ...). -- [[User:Lucasbfr|lucasbfr]] [[User talk:Lucasbfr|<font color="darkblue">talk</font>]] 09:37, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia!

Dear RDUNC: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user talk (discussion) page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. A third option is to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator.

One last bit of advice: please sign any discussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD!   -- lucasbfr talk 12:27, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}}

I am new to Wikipedia and after making some enquiries decided to give it a try.

I was told ..... "Don't worry too much about formatting - other editors can always tidy up whatever you contribute. Be bold! "

I have added 2 articles: PS.Invincible Murray River Queen

Both were deleted straight away with the deletion log reading :

  • 19:16, 7 July 2007 Merope (Talk | contribs) deleted "Murray River Queen" (csd a1)

I provided a reference, and was going to add a 2nd later (after looking up another book.)

Can someone tell me what I did wrong..?? Does "csd a1" mean something..??

RDUNC 12:18, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, first of all welcome aboard :). CSD A1 is a code that means "Criteria for speedy deletion - Very short article providing little or no context". By looking at the article, you don't provide any explanation on what the "Murray River Queen" is and why it is notable. You should take a look at some similar boat articles to see what you should include or not (I must admit that I am not an expert in the field ;)). If you need further help, please don't hesitate to post on my talk page or to put {{helpme}} followed by your question on this page. -- lucasbfr talk 12:27, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hi, it is not a question of completing in one shot, more that at that time, the content really did not qualify. I restored the content at User:RDUNC/PS.Invincible and User:RDUNC/Murray River Queen so you can work on it. I'm out for today, but I propose to let you work on these drafts (they are not encyclopedia article since they are on your user space) and when you feel that the article is ready, drop me a note and add {{helpme}} so someone can take a look and move it back to the encyclopedia if the result is acceptable :) -- lucasbfr talk 13:56, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for not coming back earlier. If you want to draft an article in your userspace before moving it to the encyclopedia, just call the article "User:RDUNC/name of the article" (you can type that in the search box to get a link to the page). Special:Prefixindex/User:RDUNC can help you locating all the articles in your space. Just remember that Wikipedia is not a free webhost and therefore you should only do drafts for future articles :). If you want to delete a page, just add {{db-author}} at its top. I hope that helps! -- lucasbfr talk 08:22, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Murray River Queen- the continuing saga.....

Sorry to hear that :x I can't find the deleted articles though, were you using an other username? Or maybe there's a glitch somewhere :). For the categories, in fact that's working backwards, you simply need to add [[Category:Paddle steamers]] to your article, and it will show up on the list. For your articles, I suggest you so state why these two boats are different from the other boats constructed at the same time (why they received coverage, their story: "last xxx", "first xxx to have xxx", ...). -- lucasbfr talk 09:37, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For your user page User:RDUNC, in fact it got deleted by Ryulong because it only contained some random trolling by a now blocked editor. Since it was neither relevant, at the right place nor helpful, it got deleted, no worries there is no link with your articles :). Anyway, sorry if your first encounter with our policies was harsher than what you expected! -- lucasbfr talk 11:26, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
