Timothy Thomas Hasselbeck (born April 6, 1978 in Norfolk, Massachusetts) is an American football quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He was originally signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2001. He played college football at Boston College.

He is son of former NFL tight end Don Hasselbeck and has a brother, Matt Hasselbeck, who is quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. He is married to The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Early years

He attended Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, Massachusetts.

Professional career

After a productive career as a college player at Boston College, Hasselbeck was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad in 2002 as an undrafted free agent. In 2003 he was signed by the Washington Redskins.

He spent two seasons as a backup quarterback for the Redskins, and was thrust into starting action in 2003 when then starting quarterback Patrick Ramsey was injured. The high point of his career to date came on December 7, 2003, when he completed 13 of 19 passes for 154 yards in leading the Redskins to a 20-7 win over the New York Giants. He threw two touchdown passes and no interceptions in that game. The following week he had the ignominy of recording the lowest possible single-game passer rating (0.0) in a 27-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Hasselbeck was 6-for-26 (23%) for 56 yards with four interceptions in that game.

In May 2005, the New York Giants signed Hasselbeck to be their backup for QB Eli Manning. While he is regarded as strong-armed and athletic, he has a mediocre 63.7 career passer rating. Hasselbeck, however, has not thrown a pass in an NFL regular season contest since the 2003 season. On September 1 2007, he was released by the Giants. Many observers speculated he would try to get into media broadcasting. This speculation was confirmed when Hasselbeck made his TV debut on September 23 200 announcing the Arizona Cardinals-Baltimore Ravens game for FOX.

On October 15 2007, he was signed by the Arizona Cardinals as a backup quarterback for starter Tim Rattay.

Due to injuries to both Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner, Hasselbeck was signed by the Arizona Cardinals on October 16 2007.

Personal life

Hasselbeck is perhaps best known as the brother of Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and the husband of Elisabeth Hasselbeck (born Filarski), former Survivor contestant and current co-host of The View. He married Elisabeth on July 6, 2002. They welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Grace Elisabeth Hasselbeck on April 6, 2005, which was Hasselbeck's 27th birthday. On November 9 2007, their 7-pound, 15-ounce son was born at an Arizona hospital.

Tim and Matt are the sons of former New England Patriots tight end Don Hasselbeck.
