this is also a spirit-
Delphines
General Description
A dolphin spirit, Delphines tend to be playful, helpful and facinated by mortals

Physical Description
Delphines can either be found playing in the oceans as dolphins (Dolphin shapechange IF appropriate to the conditions, more likely an RP'd and never seen form), or as a mortal with blusish skin and hair when they are on land.

Three common personality types
The Recorder - This type of Delphine enjoys song and story so much that he/she scowers the world and collects them. He/she also enjoys singing and telling stories to others who will listen.
The Protector/Guide - This type of Delphine respects life greatly, and is willing to guide those in need as well as defend and aid those in danger.
The Playful Abductor - This type of Delphine enjoys playing with mortals, particularly children. He/she may abduct a mortal playmate they are particularly fond of.

Motivations
Delphines are playful by nature, enjoying life for it's own sake. Their affinity for water makes them friendly of those who are also of and respectful of the water, including sailors and fishermen. They also have a respect for life, which can be seen in their helpful attitude.

Likes/Dislikes
Delphines enjoy song and oral storytelling. They tend to prefer skills that do not rely on carrying many things, such as tamers and bards. They may also become druids or rangers because of their affinity for a part of nature. They dislike stoicism and depression. In the first they will try and provoke some kind of emotional reaction and in the second they will try to reverse the depression through folicing and play.
Special Abilities
Delphines have a perfect memory and a perfect sense of pitch. They also tend to be rather empathic (the ability to sense the emotional state of others).

Delphine is the first novel by Anne Louise Germaine de Staël, published in 1802. The book is written in epistolary form (as a series of letters) and examines the limits of women's freedom in an aristocratic society. Although Madame de Staël denied political intent the book was controversial enough for Napoleon to exile the author.

A new English translation was released by Avriel H. Goldberger in 1995.
