Mark Pilgrim in 2007

Mark Pilgrim is one of the most recognisable TV and radio personalities in South Africa. He has hosted numerous TV shows over the years, including Big Brother South Africa.

His first love has always been radio, and for the past 13 years listeners have enjoyed his warm (and somewhat wry) sense of humour. After obtaining his B.Com (Industrial Psychology) and working in market research for 10 years, he decided to follow his heart and joined 5FM back in 1995. After 9 years they parted ways and he joined 94.7 Highveld Stereo in Johannesburg. In October 2007 Mark made radio history in South Africa, by hosting the first chart show to be broadcast on 2 radio stations simultaneously. Take40sa (Saturdays 10-2pm) can now be heard on 94.7 Highveld Stereo and 94.5 Kfm in the Cape. He also hosts The Long Lost Classic Show on 94.7 (Sundays 10-2pm).

He is as comfortable in front of the camera as he is behind the microphone, with a string of TV shows to his credit, including: Big Brother South Africa, Big Brother Africa, Retail Therapy and Sex Etc on MNET; New Moves on e-TV; as well as Face2face on SABC2. From August 2008, Mark will be the host of the South African version of the Power of 10. It will be flighted in prime time on Sunday nights at 6pm on MNET.

In addition, he is a regular DJ at nightclubs around the country. He is also an experienced corporate deejay, entertaining delegates at numerous functions over the years. As a voice artist, Mark also spends a lot of his working day in post production studios, narrating radio and TV commercials as well as the television show Car Torque on SABC3 Mark is a well-polished MC, having hosted numerous corporate gala evenings.

He is also a motivational speaker, sharing his story on testicular cancer, how he overcame it and how it pushed him to follow his dreams.
