I will not run in the Arbitration Committee elections this year and will step down on the expiration of my 3-year term at the end of 2008. Three years is long enough to do this job; I need a break and the Committee needs some new blood. I don't rule out standing again in future, but not this time.

NOTE: Not to be mistaken for Morwen, who is someone entirely different. I'm also not Matthew Brown, despite the name similarity.
Me.
Me, parking my '67 Ford Thunderbird.

My name is Matthew Brown. I'm 34, and an Englishman living in California. My home is in Anaheim, California, a block from Disneyland, and I work in Los Angeles, California as a UNIX systems administrator (ex-programmer). The username 'Morven' has been my online handle since 1991.

I am a member of the Arbitration Committee (since January 2006), and I am an administrator on both the English Wikipedia (since January 2004), and Wikimedia Commons. My first listed edit was on 2003-02-17, though I didn't start contributing in earnest until several months later. I have a ton of edits, but I blame forgetting to preview.

A challenge

Avoid using Wikipedia initialisms in running text (WP:NPA, WP:AN/I, etc.). It's OK to use them as a link target so that you don't have to get the exact long title correct in the link; however, you should pipelink these with plain-text descriptions. This is especially critical when dealing with newcomers, but I believe such abbreviations should be avoided even in discussion with experienced editors; they reduce the readability of your comments and new initialisms are created constantly - you can't expect everyone to know them all. I am going to adhere to this from now on and I challenge you all to do the same.
