Project Vote (or Project VOTE!) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that provides services related to voter engagement and participation in low-income and minority communities. Project Vote was founded in 1982. Its first executive director was Sandy Newman [1][2], and its executive director since 2004 has been Michael Slater.[3]

Project Vote has worked with organizations such as ACORN[4], Demos, National Voting Rights Institute, Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law, Fair Elections Legal Network with respect to the implementation of voter registration programs, and engages in litigation for enforcement of the National Voter Registration Act.[5]

United States presidential candidate Barack Obama was the director of the Illinois chapter during 1992.
