About

The WikiCup is a championship which takes place every year on Wikipedia. The cup is played and won by skill of editing, in which the purpose of the cup is to encourage editing and to make editing fun here on Wikipedia.

The tournament is going to be in the style of the FIFA World Cup, but for the inaugural tournament, we will feature group stages of users depending on how many enter the tournament; of which the top 2 teams will advance to the second round, where they will be compared, in two groups of 6, where the top 4 users winners will proceed to the next round. Leaving 8 finalists. To be compared in a group, if a user stops editing during the tournament without warning or any notification. They will be eliminated and their place will come open to another user.

When the cup is won, a special template with the cup on will be placed on their userpage. The color of the border will depend on the colours of the flag of the country that they represented.

How to Enter

You may consider using the following to select your country -

• Country you live in.
• Country you were born in.
• Any WikiProject you participate in.
• Any country that you just particularly like.
• You can also use the random country selector

Please leave the following on the page "#{{/Sign|Country|User name}}" You should also check that your country is not already selected, because we will then assign you a different one if yours is already taken!

• You should also try to contact us should you change your user name. Or you will be eliminated, because the links will not work.

Scoring

The points are awarded in the following way - :

• 1 point per mainspace edit (count is divided by ten)
• 25 points per good article greatly contributed to (at least 25 edits)
• 40 points per Featured article significantly contributed to (at least 25 edits)
• 5 points per DYK or ITN item
