Myrtle Avenue in Hatton, London is a street which is famous amongst aircraft enthusiasts, located on the threshold to runway 27L at London Heathrow Airport.

Location

Located directly alongside the perimiter to London Heathrow Airport, the street, and adjoining grass area, offer spectacular views of approaching aircraft when airport operations dictate that aircraft are to land on runway 27L.

Myrtle Avenue is accessible by air, road, rail and London Underground. Hatton Cross tube station is just 400 yards from the grass area at the North West of the road. For drivers, if you arrive early enough in the day, you can park on Myrtle Avenue and the surrounding residential streets free of charge. It is advised however that you arrive early, especially in the summer as it has been known for over 100 enthusiasts to congregate on busy days.

Reception from the public

Aircraft enthusiasts are part and parcel of a busy airport environment, however it is not uncommon for passing public and motorists to make offensive remarks at the congregation which gathers in this area. It is advised that any such remarks are taken with a pinch of salt
