The heavy marsh crab, Sesarma reticulatum, is a crab species native to the salt marshes of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.[1]

Mark Bertness, chairman of the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Brown University, has blamed their overpopulation, due to a loss of predators, for the decline in cordgrass found in the marshes.[1]
