Timothy J. Grendell is a Republican member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 18th District since 2005. Previously he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2000 until 2004.

Senator Grendell currently serves as the Chairman of the Ohio State Senate Judiciary and Criminal Justice Committee, the Vice-Chairman of the State and Local Government and Veterans Affairs Committee and serves as a member of the Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources, and the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review.

Senator Grendell received his JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and his LLM from the University of Virginia Law School. He was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in History from John Carroll University and graduated from St. Ignatius High School.

Senator Tim Grendell served in the United States Army from 1978 to 1983. Grendell was assigned to the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Office for the 2nd Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas. Tim graduated second in his class from the Judge Advocate General School Basic Officer Course. He served as a military prosecutor at Fort Hood for approximately one year, where he prosecuted 67 cases. He then managed the 2nd Armored Division Legal Assistance Office, which provided legal services to soldiers and families in the division. Tim received the Army Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal for his service in the division. Tim was then selected out of 1800 military lawyers to become part of the new army legal assistance education office at the Judge Advocate General School in Charlottesville, Virginia. Tim was a faculty member at the JAG School and taught various classes on military and civil law topics. Tim also wrote several Army law publications for use by military legal assistance offices worldwide. While at the JAG School, Tim was selected to act as legal advisor to the Department of Defense and the Department of the Army on federal legislation dealing with the Division of military retired pay by state courts in divorce proceedings. Tim represented the Department of Defense before the Senate Armed Services Committee on this legislation and testified on this legislation for the Department of the Army. Tim received the Army Meritorious Service Medal for his service at the JAG School.

Senator Tim Grendell has been mentioned as a candidate for Ohio statewide office in 2010.
