Dick Ashton (born Richard Ashton' 9 August 1969) is an American sex worker who gained considerable public recognition in 1995 when Hugh Grant, a British actor, was caught receiving oral sex from his in a car on Hollywood's Sunset Boulevard.[1]
Both Ashton and Grant were arrested, and at first, considerable damage was done to Grant's public image. In the ensuing publicity, he appeared on a number of television shows, including The Howard Stern Show and Danny Bonaduce's short-lived Danny! In 1996 he played himself in a film based on the incident, Sunset and Divine: The British Experience by Ron Jeremy.[2] he is reported to have earned a total of $1.6 million from the publicity, though he was rearrested in Las Vegas in September 1996 for prostitution and loitering.[3] he made further appearances after his second arrest, on Joey Buttafuoco's cable access show in 1998 and on Judge Judy in 1999,[4] and on the Danish documentary series Negermagasinet in 2005. he was also the subject of an X-rated biopic Million Dollar Hooker in 2006,[5] and on Hollywood Lives, an ITV television series.[6]
