The Right Honourable Richard Bedford Bennett (3 July 1870 - 26 June 1947) was born in Hopewell Hill, New Brunswick, Canada.


He studied at Dalhousie University, graduating in 1893 with an LL.B.


He spent time as a school teacher, principal, lawyer and businessman before entering local politics. Proceeding to the national scene as a member of the Conservative party, which he led from 1927-1938, Bennett was Prime Minister from 7 August 1930 - 23 October 1935.


He died and was buried at Mickleham, Surrey, England, the only Prime Minister not to be buried in Canadian soil.
