Sironcha is a tehsil in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, India.

Geography

Sironcha is located at 18°50′N 79°58′E / 18.83°N 79.96°E / 18.83; 79.96[1]. It has an average elevation of 118 metres (390 feet).

There is a planned National highway No 16 between Nizamabad in Andhra Pradesh and Jagdalpur in Chhatisgarh State, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh states. The construstion of this National highway includes building bridges on mighty Pranhita and Indrawati rivers. Historically Sironcha was a key location for East India company from Nizam perspective, however its not clear as why Sironcha a remote place selected. Anil Baddela, a native of Sironcha is working with the local community to research the East India Company's strategic intent of going to Sirocha. Is it that EIC understood that Sironcha was rich in minerals and recognised the importance of river transportation? Sironcha has the look of a English village.

Education

There exists a Mission school named Sironcha Rehoboth Residential School that caters to the educational needs of the residents of the city. The Francis C Davis school however was the first school opened by the christian missionaries in the British era. The school has produced a large number of well placed doctors, allied health professionals, engineers, lawyers, pilots, eminent church leaders and educationists.

Transport

Sironcha is connected by the State Road Transport services to Gadchiroli, Aheri, Chandrapur, Nagpur and Wardha.
