Interoute is a telecom operator providing network services in the European Union and neighbouring nations with transatlantic capacity linked to North American hubs, Dubai and Tunisia. Its products and services include bandwidth, virtual private networks, high speed internet access and transit, managed hosting, communications services and media streaming.
Network
Interoute's managed network connects 90 cities in 24 countries across 57,000 cable kilometres of fiber optics network in Europe. Products and services include bandwidth, virtual private networks, high speed internet access and transit, managed hosting, communications services and streaming media.
From the ducts (minimum 3, maximum 12) to the two Network Operating Centres (two for resilience), Interoute own and control the entire network. 48 fibre pairs have been deployed throughout the network, which means it has the capacity to carry over a petabit (a billion megabits per second) of traffic.
Ownership
A privately held company, Interoute is owned by a number of internationally based shareholders, the largest and major shareholder being the Sandoz Family Foundation, one of the world's largest private family foundations.
Acquisitions
Interoute acquired PSINet Europe in 2005 and with that acquisition added managed hosting services to its pre-existing portfolio.
