Rent controversy

The school came to national attention in 2009 after Principal Asrani reportedly banned a production of Rent by students due to it's depictions of homosexual characters and relationships. The ACLU has filed a lawsuit alleging homophobic bullying and sexist harrassment was tolerated at the school. The production was re-instated after Asrani said the only reason she had banned the performance was that she had not been given a copy of the script. The opening night was marked by a demonstration by the Westboro Baptist Church.[2]
