AlarmForce Industries Inc is a home security systems manufacturer and provider, headquartered in Toronto, Canada. AlarmForce manufactures, installs and monitors home alarm systems in Canada and selected states of US [2]. AlarmForce Inc. manufacturing base is in Toronto. They have 78,000 subscribers in Canada and United States. AlarmForce operates in the residential and commercial security segment.
History
Origins
AlarmForce was founded in the year 1988 by Joel Matlin, the current President & Chief Executive Officer. In 1969 Matlin founded another security company named Frisco Bay Industries, a company with a broader scope. In 1988 he sold Frisco Bay Industries to his business partner and set up “AlarmForce Industries Inc.”[3] The company now develops products for the residential security market in North America.
The Proprietary Model
AlarmForce initially relied on franchisees to distribute to the major markets in Canada. However, it soon gave up the franchisee model to use its own resources for expansion. This model proved to be more financially rewarding and now AlarmForce operates on its own. Today, AlarmForce manufactures, installs and monitors its own security systems using its own proprietary technology, without outsourcing any of the processes.
Product launch years
The company launched a two way voice alarm system called AlarmVoice in 1991. This was followed by the launch of AlarmPlus in 2000, and in early 2008, the personal emergency response system AlarmCare.
Expansion drive
AlarmForce went public in 1997. In November 2004 AlarmForce established its US head office in Charlotte, North Carolina. AlarmForce envisaged a further expansion plan over next 36 months into 25 to 36 US states.[4]. In December 2006 AlarmForce entered Ohio and established their operations base in city of Columbus.[5] This was followed by entry into Georgia, in 2007.
Growth
AlarmForce recorded revenues of CAD $25.14 million in 2007, up 19.9% over the 2006 figure of CAD $20.96 million.[6] The April Q1 – 2008 revenue was CAD $7.32 million. [7]
AlarmForce has thirty branch offices and its subscriber base in Canada and United States touched 78,000 in 2007[8]
AlarmForce Sponsors Georgia Force
In October 2008 the home alarm company announced its partnership with Georgia Force an arena football league team that led their division last year. AlarmForce will for 2009 season sponsor Georgia Force defense and recognize defense accomplishments with on the field presentation of "AlarmForce defensive player of the Week and Year" award.
