Rhyme Asylum is a British Hip-Hop group, formed in 2007. Though presently comprised of artists Possessed, Skirmish, Psiklone and producer Leatherface, Rhyme Asylum can also be associated with rapper Reain (a.k.a Whasisface), who is heard in several of their songs and also paired with Possessed in the Jump Off Freestyle World Rap Championships which brought them to the Las Vegas final free-styling for $10,000.

Praised for their cryptically dark and disturbing lyrics, brilliantly twisted metaphors decorated with samples from films, Rhyme Asylum's sound comes close to nothing else heard in a predominantly grime infested rap scene coming out of London at the moment. Their debut album ‘State of Lunacy’, released on Rekabet Records on the 16th June 2008, features staple artists of US hip-hop including Copywrite, Diabolic, and an album cover designed by the distinguished Skam2?, who has previously designed for Eminem, A Tribe Called Quest, Naughty By Nature and Ill Bill. These features were landmark firsts for a UK group to have featured on a release. Amongst their admirers, DJ Excalibah has constantly name dropped them on his column in Hip Hop Connection as the ones to watch out for in the future. Subsequently Rhyme Asylum have appeared live on Pyro Radio and received airplay on BBC 1Xtra, Life FM, Sensei FM and Dusty Crates to name a few.

Biography

Formed organically from the infamous Deal Real open mic sessions in West London, their sprinkling of demos have caused widespread worldwide fervour among hip-hop’s faithful, both in their native UK, the USA and internationally with equal distinction (an unprecedented achievement for a UK based group).
