Academics
Waterford offers a rigorous academic program that provides a solid foundation for study at competitive colleges. For a school of its size, the curriculum contains an especially broad spectrum of courses, from introductory levels to honors and 13 AP courses to highly sophisticated opportunities for independent work. Tabor offers classes in the traditional liberal arts fields such as the humanities, math and the sciences but also unusual offerings for a secondary school such as Latin, history of science, and lab-intensive molecular biology. The math and science faculty are particularly accommodating to independent study and a pace of learning customized for each student's needs. In recent years, for example, students finishing calculus early have formed 'advanced topics' math classes covering linear algebra and multivariable calculus.

The Waterford School also has an excellent theater program under the direction of Javen Tanner. The program includes annual middle, upper, and lower school plays, sometimes combining the middle and upper schools. Smaller productions are also sometimes produced.

Recent productions include:
* This Bird of Dawning Singeth All Night Long
* A Winter's Tale
* Absurd Shorts (an evening of absurdist theater by Samuel Beckett and others)
* The Bald Soprano
* A Burial At Thebes

Waterford has a number of girls and boys athletic teams. Its most successful team is Men's Lacrosse, winning several state titles despite Waterford's small size and lacrosse' non-UHSAA-regulated status.

Faculty
Since its inception, the Waterford School has developed a faculty with impressive credentials and an unquenchable love for teaching and learning. Waterford teachers were educated at well respected colleges and universities in the United States, including Brown, Swarthmore, Brigham Young University, Yale, Stanford and Harvard. More than 60 percent of the faculty have master's or doctorate degrees and the average tenure is 9 years.

Student life
Waterford has a number of annual traditions.
*Spirit Week: friendly competition in January where each grade has a specific color they wear for the whole day.
*Freshman interim: incoming freshman go on a class trip before school starts
*Senior prank: The 2004 prank was filling an indoor hallway with cars. In 2008, student government officers agreed to forgo the prank in exchange for a school-sponsored, all-night party on campus. The class of 2009 is hosting a similar party and taking an extra day off school, May 22, as a "senior sluff day."
*Senior trip: seniors take finals early and miss their last few days of high school to go on a class trip.
*WOW day: where a grade or entire middle school/ High school earns the ability to able to wear non-uniform clothing.
