PJM is RFID Air Interface Standard used for fast identification of a large amount of stacked items.

Standard

PJM is standardized in the ISO/IEC 18000-3 Part 3 Mode 2 RFID Air Interface Standards An alternating magnet field with a frequency of 13,56 MHz is used both for data transmission and power supply of the contactless tag. PJM falls into the category of vicinity contactless tags which means that the distance between the tag and reader can be up to 100 cm. PJB advances older vicinity standards (ISO 15693) by the ability of increasing both the number of tags in the field and the transmission speed. With PJG up to 1500 tags/ per second can be identified. It is deployed for identification of a large number of smaller, possibly stacked items which are packed in one container. Due to its speed this technology can be used on high speed conveyor belts.

Applications

First application are in healthcare and pharmaceutical but also in document and media management.
