Aram Tigran (1934 -2009) was a contemporary Armenian singer who was born in Al-Qamishli in northeastern Syria. His father's family were survivors of the Armenian Genocide. After finishing grade nine, he concentrated his efforts on learning music and playing Oud and by the age of twenty years old, he was singing in three languages: Zazaish, Kurdish, Arabic and Armenian[1]. He is considered among the best of contemporary Kurdish singers and musicians[2]. He passed away in Athens on August 8, 2009[3]. Tigran wanted to be buried in Diyarbakir, the largest city in southeastern Turkey[4].
