Memorial Composite High School is located in Stony Plain and is part of the Parkland School Division (psd 40). Serving grades 10-12, it teaches approximately 1200 students, of that, 100 of them are enrolled in the school's large outreach program. There are 55 teachers with an additional 27 support staff currently employed. [1] The principal, Dr. Cameron, is well known for dedicating time to spend with students and understanding the issues that face modern society.

Memorial puts a high emphasis on its Arts, Choral, and Band programs, as well as sports. Their sports teams, named the Marauders, consistently strive to do their best, although Volleyball and Basketball remain the school's strong points. Jesse Zelinsky is one of the school’s main athletes, as well as athlete Laura Affeld; she was once the fastest twelve year old in North America [2] In addition to Arts and Sports, Memorial has a strong math program with several excellent teachers. In particular, Mrs. Ropert, a new teacher, is a school favourite and is an inspiration to all she teaches.

Although there are many positive aspects of this school, there are also some concerns brought forth by the student body. A facebook group by Memorial Composite High School students, called Memorial High: Problem School of the Century, has been created with the idea of bringing several of these concerns to the fore. [3] Some of these concerns include issues with the Book Depository, which is often disorganized resulting in students paying for books they have returned. Another issue is public safety. As the school is aging and a new one is being built, several health issues have arisen. First, the flooring of the school is in poor condition, and occasionally comes loose, resulting in students and faculty tripping over it. Duct tape is used to fix this, eventually. In addition, the ceiling of the school is poorly insulated, as the heat that escapes is needed to melt the snow off the flat-shaped roof. This results in very cold conditions during the winter months. Finally, the heat registers in the floor have been known to collapse when stepped upon, which occurred in January of 2009, causing harm to a grade twelve female. These and more concerns can be accessed through the facebook group Memorial High: Problem School of the Century.

Memorial High School is located across from the Stony Plain Multicultural Centre, an establishment dedicated to protecting and diversifying regional cultures. [4] It is also near the Stony Plain outdoor pool.

A replacement school located on the former NAIT Westerra Campus is currently being renovated. Students are expected to be able to move into the replacement school is January of 2010.
