Salad Days (サラダデイズ) is a romantic shōnen manga created by Shinobu Inokuma and was serialized in Shōnen Sunday by Shogakukan. The manga is a collection of romance stories in a high school and college setting, covering various aspects of romance and relationships from finding love to dealing with it, and the pain that can come from it. Almost all of the stories are standalone with one exception that becomes a recurring storyline at various points in the last two-thirds of the manga. Characters featured in other stories will often show up in the current story as part of the supporting cast.
The term "salad days" is said to have originated from Shakespeare’s 1606 play Antony and Cleopatra. In a speech at the end of Act One, the Cleopatra expresses her regret at her youthful dalliances with Julius Caesar by stating "My salad days, When I was green in judgment." Shinobu Inokuma features this line in one of the stories, indicating the titles origin.
