Matthew Rua (born July 20, 1977 in New Zealand) is a former rugby league player. He previously played National Rugby League for the Melbourne Storm between 1998-2002 and represented New Zealand. He is involved with the Cook Islands national team and has played for the Central Comets in the Queensland Cup in 2006 after a stint with the Waitakere Rangers earlier that year. He was signed in 2007 by the Melbourne Storm but only played one game for the year, which was his first since 2002 (in Melbourne's round 13 win over the New Zealand Warriors at Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland), but retired at the end of the year.

He is of Cook Islands heritage.[1]
