Matthew Uttley (born 1965), is an English academic best known for his published work on defence acquisition. He is Professor of Defence Studies at King’s College London and Head of the Defence Studies Department, whose fifty academics provide conceptual and theoretical academic support to directing staff at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Shrivenham. Uttley has previously taught at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich, the University of York and Lancaster University. Uttley publishes on defence economics, weapons acquisition, and British defence policy.[1]
