Lorne Resnick (born May 16, 1961) is an award winning travel, fine art and commercial photographer born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He began his career photographing rock concerts in his home town of Toronto, featuring performers from Bruce Springsteen to Madonna. Resnick's first book of photographs, “Live in Concert: 10 years of Rock and Roll”, was published in 1987 and includes images of more than 60 bands.
An overland journey to Africa inspired Resnick to pursue photography in a multitude of countries, eventually leading him to Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Greenland, Cuba, China, across Europe and to 22 countries in Africa. Eventually Resnick lived in Amsterdam for six years working on commercial projects and spent more than a year in each of Cuba and Africa working on long-term book projects.
Resnick is currently completing what could be described as his magnum opus, a comprehensive book on Cuba, its people and culture. He first visited the island in 1995, and during subsequent visits has taken an estimated 20,000 images. When completed, the fine art coffee table book, "Cuba Dreaming: Life in the Moment", will feature upwards of 250 black and white and color images along with numerous interviews with Cuban people. He also teaches photography workshops in Africa, Antarctica and iconic US National Parks such as Yosemite, Arches & Death Valley, as well as one-on-one sessions at his studio in Los Angeles.
Resnick’s commercial and fine art images have been exhibited in galleries across Europe and America, and have been used commercially for annual reports, billboards, television, web sites and for worldwide advertising campaigns. In 2005 Resnick won the Travel Photographer of the Year award. Resnick’s clients include; BBC, IBM, Ford, DuPont, Budweiser, Lufthansa, British Airways, Johnson & Johnson, Mercedes Benz, Bacardi and Toyota. [1]
