Pavitra Rishta is an Indian soap opera aired on Zee TV produced by Indian television's soap queen Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms. The show is a remake of a very popular Tamil serial, "Thirumathi Selvam" of which the producer of the show Ekta Kapoor has acquired the copyrights to. The soap opera premiered on June 1, 2009. It is amongst India's most popular shows.

The Cast

Archana (Ankita Lokhande)-is the main character of Pavitra Rishta TV serial whose age is about 26 years. She is a low educated girl. Here education is the barrier in her marriage. She handles all the chores of her house and makes her mother comfortable. She was married to Manav but because he promised to marry Shravani they had to get divorded.

Manav (Sushant Singh Rajput)-is the leading character of men in Pavitra Rishta. He is about 31 years old. He works as a mechanic in a garage whole day to earn lots of money for his family. He loves Archana. He respects his family much. He is also not much educated guy. He has no own dreams. He is not much poor and not much rich. He has only dreams to support his family financially. He loves Archana, but had to divorce her so he could marry Shravani.

Sulochana (Savita Prabhune)-is center character of Pavitra Rishta TV serial whose age is about 60 years. She is Archana's mother. Archana had done great services for her when she was ill. Now, she wants to repay Archana back. She wants to find a perfect life partner for Archana who has good earnings.

Manohar(Kishori Govind Mahabole)-is 65 years old father of Archana. He wants a perfect groom for Archana who take care of her. He never thinks that groom should be rich person.

Varsha (Priya Marathe)-is 24 years old girl. She is younger sister of Archana. She always feels a partiality in her mother’s love. At her old job her boss, Ashwin, pretended to love her and she reciprocated his love. He proposed to her and through Manav Varsha found out that Ashwin was already married. She breaks all ties with him and quits her job, when she goes to her friend, Rashmi, for support she finds out Rashmi was helping Ashwin for the money. Satish, one of Archana's possible grooms and then her boss, falls in love with Varsha and asks for her hand in marriage. She accepts even though she doesn't love Satish because he has done so much for her family. On the day of their wedding she finds out that Ashwin's wife is Satish's cousin sister's husband. She tries to tell him the truth, but Satish insists he doesn't care about her past. When Satish's mom finds out about the affair she goes to Ashwin first and he warps the story saying he encouraged Varsha as a boss but she took it as love and suggested that they have an extra marital affair when he told her he was married. She confronts Varsha about this and Varsha tries to tell her the truth, but she won't listen. Satish hears her side of the story and believes her. Now, she seems much closer to Satish.

Vaishali (Prarthana Behere)-is the youngest sister of Archana. She always supports Archana and mother just like Varsha.

Vinod (Parag Tyagi)-is Archana's brother who is about 32 years old. He is married. He earns very low in his house. He has a daughter also.

Manjusha (Swati Anand)-is about 29 years old married woman. She is sister-in-law of Archana. She has very unoptimistic approach towards mother-in-law and Vinod’s sisters. She always gets into fights with Sulochana because she refuses to believe the wrongs said against her mother and brother. She also believes that everyone in the house blames her for their deeds.

Sachin Deshmukh(Raj Singh)- Manav's younger brother. He loves Shravani. He dies in an accident.

Damodar Deshmukh(Ajay Wadaavkar)- Manav's father. He loves Savita but quarrels with her all the time. He wants Archana and Manav to reunite.

Savita Deshmukh (Usha Nadkarni)- Manav's mother. She loves her family too. She initially hated Archana and desperately wanted Manav to divorce her and marry Shravani, but now she loves Archana like her own daughter. She is very much affected by their divorce.

Vandita Deshmukh (Yamini)- Manav's sister. Ajit molests her and then in public tells everyone that he raped her. She gets married to him because he and his mother blackmail her into it. Now that they are married he uses her as a tool against Manav and Archana and even beats her sometimes.

Shravani- She loves Sachin. After his accident she learns thet she's pregnant so she will marry Manav after his divorce. She falls in love with Manav and tries to separate him with Archana.

Satish- Loves Varsha and marries her. He helps everyone who has problems. He still supports Varsha after finding out about her affaird.

Rasika Lokhande(Smita Oak)- Manjusha's and Ajit's mother. Hates everyone apart from her children. She is a very vengeful person and wants to ruin the lives of people.

Ajit Lokhande(Pankaj Vishnu)- Wants wealth. He is the main cause of all problems in Pavitra Ristha. First he led Archana to the brothel making Satish cancel their marriage. Then he got Manav's dad drunk at their marriage. Then he lead Manav to the brothel and took fake pictures of him with girls and showed them at a pooja. Thus making Archana split up with Manav. When Manav's dad got proof to show Archana that Manav was innocent he had Manju lodge a false complaint that everyone in Manav's family would abuse Archana making the gap between Manav and Archana bigger. After they got out of jail Vandu took the tape to the police and got Ajit arrested. He bribed the officer to let him out for 2 hours, in that time he kidnapped Vandu and molested her as revenge. He took pictures to blackmail her with, but Archana noticed his birthmark in the pictures so she goes over to his house and slaps him telling him that if he tries to blackmail Vandu she'll show the pictures to the police. Ajit has the idea to malign Vandu's reputation by publicly showing the pictures off and saying he raped her. To get out of the trouble Ajit marries Vandu and makes her life miserable.

Ashwin Sagar (Amit Sareen) - Varsha's old boss who proposed to her even though he was married. She breaks off all ties with him but he comes back as her brother in law. He lies to Satish's mom about the affair and blames everything on Varsha.

Urmila Sagar (Ashlesha Sawant) - Ashwin's wife and Satish's (cousin) sister. She and Satish are very close, but because of Ashwin's lie she refuses to speak with Satish because she believes Ashwin. She hates Varsha with a passion.

Pavitra Rishta tells a story of Dombivali city which is near Mumbai. The serial story is related to a girl whose name is Archana. She is very honest and good girl but she has not completed his education. She is just a literate girl.

Pavitra Rishta TV serial begins with a contradiction between Archana and her sister-in-law when she goes in a marriage ceremony of her sister-in-law’s brother. Her Babhi’s brother was fall in love with a friend of Archana but he leaves her for money and announces about his marriage with a rich girl. Archana’s friend told her about her love but she doesn’t know that the guy was related to Archana’s family. Her friend also goes in that marriage and fight for her right. The marriage breaks off.

After this accident, Archana’s sister-in-law was very jealous with Vinod’s sisters. So, she never wants to make settle Archana’s marriage with a good guy. She always creates a problem. Once time, a guy was ready to marry Archana but her sister-in-law interferes there also. No one was ready to marry with Archana due to her lower education. In this process, Manav loves her.

Once upon time, her sister-in-law gives some money to a goon to send her on prostitute hose but Manav saves her.

Pavitra Rishta TV serial reveals Archana and Manav life story. Both take family’s responsibility in their early life due to some problems. Both ignore their education also for their families. They wanted to establish a Pavitra Rishta in their families.

On the proposal of Archana, her mother was ready to marry her with Manav. Her mother was known that Manav is the owner of a garage. After her marriage, she knew that Manav is only a mechanic of that garage. She was very sad and allows her daughter to lives with her. Archana's sister-in-law's brother plans against Archana and proved her a prostitute to Manav mother. On the other hand, they proved Manav to Archana mother as a bad guy who goes to prostitute house.

Sulochana is very sensitive to her daughters. Once day, she sees Varsha with her boss and slaps her. This behavior was unbearable for her. She leaves her mother house. On the other hand, Archana leaves Manav’s house due to his mother.

ZEE TV has shown a holy relationship of Archana and Manav through Pavitra Rishta. Manav and Archana always try to establish Pavitra Rishta in their families. They always sacrifice themselves just like Radhika of Chhoti Bahu.
