Premier Medical Group

Premier Medical Group developed from the Harley Street practice of Dr Harry Brünjes and Associates. The original experts all graduated from Guy’s Hospital. As the demand for medico-legal opinion increased nationally, Premier Medical was incorporated in 1997. The Company grew organically during the 1990s. In 2000 its sister Company, Rapid Trauma Assessment (RTA), was formed to provide rehabilitation. In 2001 the Head Office was moved from Brighton to Ludlow. At the same time RTA developed a strategic relationship with BUPA over a three year period. This resulted with RTA (in part) being sold to BUPA at the end of that time. Premier Medical has been at the centre of AMRO (Association of Medical Reporting Organisations). Academically Premier Medical and in particular its medical board has a close link with the EWI (Expert Witness Institute). In January 2008 Premier Medical acquired its main competitor, Medico-Legal Reporting. At the end of the calendar year the ERG Group was added following a set of negotiations with KPMG. Premier Medical is now the largest provider of medical opinion in the sector with over 200,000 instructions a year. Current stakeholders include the majority of major insurers, legal expense insurers and top 100 law firms. In November 2009 PMG completed the acquisition of Principle Medical Services which focuses on providing medical opinion in the life insurance sector.  PMG also took an equity stake in WARP, a medical software company. The present strategy is a focus on further acquisition and diversification strategy. The Company has 120 clinics throughout the United Kingdom and opened its flapship, Prognostic Health, in Fitzrovia in August this year.

In spring 2010, the Premier Medical Group was bought by Capita[6] for £60 million. Dr Brünjes remains as the Chairman of the Premier Medical Group and was appointed Group Medical Director of Capita.
