Peter Christopher (born 1948, Cyprus) is an Australian author and photographer who writes about shipwrecks and riverboats. He is also a Director of the non profit organisation City of Adelaide Preservation Trust Ltd set up to save the 1864 clipper ship of that name.

Peter Christopher is the author of seven books, and co-editor of another.[1] [2]

Peter Christopher is not a full time author. In addition to his maritime interests he is a senior Trade Union official, with his current role being the Chief Industrial Officer of the Public Service Association of South Australia. http://cpsu.asn.au/review/Public_Serv_A__s_Review_2699.pdf

He has, however, since 1967 been an active SCUBA diver and volunteer maritime archaeologist who has visited and documented wrecks in South Australia in particular, but also around Australia. Peter Christopher's contribution to maritime archaeology was recognised by an Award presented to him by the Australian Government in 1982. http://catalogue.nla.gov.au/Record/1765498?lookfor=subject:%22Australia%20-%20Dept.%20of%20Home%20Affairs.%22&offset=12&max=16

Australia has the largest collection of original operating paddle steamers in the world, and these have also been the subject of three decades of research, and two books.
