Ronald L. Fair (born October 27, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois ) is an American writer and artist who is "known for his experimental and versatile literary forms".[citation needed] He is best known for his 1966 novel "Hog Butcher", set in 1960s Chicago, which was filmed as the 1975 movie "Cornbread, Earl and Me" featuring Laurence Fishburne. The movie title Cornbread, Earl and Me is the origin of Cedric Maxwell's nickname.
