Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Talk:Military brat (U.S. subculture). When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.--S. Rich (talk) 16:43, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Srich, I appreciate the heads up.

I am the person who originally added that content (I also wrote that section).

Although I am not totally satisfied with the Elizabeth page, there had been significant progress over there in acknowledging her extensive military brat upbringing. So I decided to let it lay over there.

The section I originally wrote (and then later deleted) in the Military Brats (US subculture) discussion area wasn't needed any more (in my opinion).

    • But I don't mind leaving it up. **And I am especially glad somebody is watching and keeping an eye out for Military Brats page since there have been plenty of people who have tried to knock it down (remove the whole page) over the years.

Best,

(I mistakenly thought you were sending me another message-- sorry).

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
Edit summary text box

1 The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. — SpikeToronto 21:43, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Don’t forget to sign in. — SpikeToronto 21:43, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I did fill in a lot of those. (But not all, you are right).

I have references for everything. Can I have a day or two to get them in?

Thanks, 98.245.148.9 (talk) 21:45, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, here is my sign in.

Also, have you looked at the previous article version? There were no sections and it was one big, run-on giant paragraph after another. Sections were badly needed, and what I did over the last hour was add them.

I also added some new content although a lot of the content was there for a while).

Thanks again, I'll add citations over the next few days (as time allows).

I was just flagging the article where verifiable reference(s)/citation(s) are needed. It’s great the way you’re wikifying the article! But, the sooner you add citations, the better. That way none of your good work will be deleted as unsourced. I was doing recent changes patrol (RCP) and noticed the new additions. A lot of less experienced RCPers would have just removed the unsourced text and templated you with a {{uw-unsourced1}} warning, especially given that you were editing as an IP. (There is often a built-in bias amongst RCPers against IP-only editors.) I saw nothing intrinsically wrong with the edits and therefore knew that it would be an error to revert, especially when verification tags would suffice.

You would also be well-advised to do your editing from your registered account, lest anyone ever accuse you of sockpuppeting if you should ever find yourself in an editing/content debate. In the meantime, you could consider adding one of the templates found at Category:Alternate Wikipedia account templates to the top of this page and to the top of your registered account’s user page. But, before you claim this IP as your own, be sure that your internet service provider does not use dynamic IP addresses, in which case this IP may cease to be yours.

Finally, editing via IP makes you trackable to other editors, something that can only be done by a handful of administrators under strict circumstances with registered accounts. If you want greater privacy, log in before you edit. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 22:43, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. If you’ve never done wikifootnoting before, take a look at Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners (shortcut → WP:REFBEGIN). — SpikeToronto 22:45, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Spike, I appreciate the good feedback and the encouragement! I just went ahead and put in the citations too.

I really appreciate the security suggestion as well! I'll be careful to log on in the future!

Thanks so much for all your generous suggestions, very helpful and much appreciated!

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Military brat (U.S. subculture) has been reverted, as it appears to have removed content from the page without explanation. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. D6h! What's on your mind? 03:27, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide th4e specific reason for your revert. Everything I added had citations. You are required to give a precise reason for a revert, otherwise you are committing vandalism.
